Whiskey Glazed Baked Pork Chops Recipe

We had our first BBQ at our new place in May 2016. Actually, it was our first hosted BBQ ever. We weren't sure what types of drinks everyone would like so we got a wide variety of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

We ended up with lots of extra hard liquor, which we really don't drink. I've never been one to cook with alcohol either, since we never had it on hand. Well, now we've got a ton.

As I took inventory of the frozen proteins we had left, I saw six thick-cut, bone-in pork chops. I was never really a bone-in type of gal until a few years ago. I always thought the bones just got in the way. Now, I prefer bone-in pork chops.

For some reason, it suddenly clicked to use the Whiskey as a marinade for these beautiful, thick-cut, bone-in pork chops after years of mediocre seasonings. Either Applebee's or T.G.I. Fridays features Jack Daniel's Whiskey flavored proteins on their menu. I can't remember which, but I knew the flavor worked well when I tried it.

Unfortunately, it wasn't until after I made chili last night that the idea came to me. I make chili all the time and though I added ground pork sausage to the mix this time, I was craving something different. I couldn't wait to try these whiskey glazed baked pork chops.

The mister is off this week, so shortly after lunch time, I told him to look up a few recipes for whiskey pork chops, use what we have on hand and marinate them. Here's what we came up with!

Whiskey Glazed Baked Pork Chops Recipe

Recipe by melsaywhat

Cook time: 25-40 minutes
Total time: 3 hours
Yield: 6 pork chops

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup Whiskey
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp. Garlic Salt
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp. Sea Salt
  • 1 Tbsp. Ground Black Pepper
  • bone-in, thick-cut, pork chops
Cooking Directions
  1. Add sugar to bowl.

  2. Add whiskey and mix.

  3. Add olive oil to whiskey and sugar and mix.

  4. Add remaining ingredients and mix.

  5. Place 6 pork chops in air tight container.

  6. Pour mixture over pork chops.

  7. Seal in air tight container.

  8. Shake container.

  9. Place pork chops with marinade in refrigerator for 3 hours to overnight.

  10. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

  11. Transfer pork chops to foil covered baking sheet.

  12. Brush marinade on pork chops.

  13. Bake 25-40 minutes, to an internal temperature of 145.

The best thing about this recipe is that you can use the marinade on almost any protein. It's even better on the grill, but it's not required.
